Coronavirus: Nigeria’s Health Minister Confirms Second Index

A second coronavirus patient has been confirmed by the Minister of Health, Dr. Osagie Ehanire.

The minister gave the confirmation this morning, during a news conference at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH). According to him, the second victim had a contact at work in Ewekoro, Ogun State with the Italian index man, currently being managed in Lagos.

Ehanire insisted that the second case was not the driver who drove the index from Lagos to Ewekoro. The man reported as the driver by some other media had come out to say he had not been in Lagos for three years.

While stating that many people had contact with the Italian, Ehanire revealed that they were still being thoroughly traced by experts.

He, therefore, urged Nigerians and other residents not to panic, with all the health professionals and other stakeholders working round the clock to address developments, with researches ongoing.
