Coronavirus: Second Index in Nigeria Now Negative – Health Minister

Unlike the first index of coronavirus who is still battling with the dreaded virus, the second confirmed case in Nigeria has now tested negative.

This was revealed by the minister of health, Osagie Ehanire in Abuja on Friday.

This now means that Nigeria has just one confirmed case of coronavirus who is currently being treated at the Infectious Disease Hospital in Yaba, Lagos.

On the index case, who is 44-year-old Italian, Enahire said he is making good progress and should be released from hospital next week.

The second index who was announced on Monday was reported to have had “close contact” with the Italian man.

The Italian flew into Nigeria via Turkish Airline, only to develop the symptoms after some days. Italy which he came from currently has the highest record of the disease in Europe.

According to reports,  39 people who were reported to have had contact with him were quarantined while the federal government commenced the search for those who were aboard the Turkish Airline flight that brought him to the country.
