Oyo faces challenges on new cases
Oyo State Government is sweating it out over the management of Coronavirus spread as the number of positive cases has exceeded available facilities.
The Southwest state experienced a spike within the week due to a rising number of staff of a customer centre outsourcing firm, ISON Ltd., that brought the total number of positive cases in the state to 233.
iSON alone accounted for 143 persons out of the 233 who tested positive within the last three weeks. With this then facilities are reportedly overstretched.
The government has therefore, turned to private individuals asking them to donate their facilities to be used as isolation centers.
Niger Patients decry shabby treatment
COVID-19 patients discharged from the Minna Isolation center have said they were not adequately treated and tested to prove if they were negative before being discharged.
While decrying the inhuman and shabby treatment meted to them during their stay at the isolation center and upon their discharge, the patients told reporters in Minna, that they were kept overcrowded at the isolation center and some of them had to sleep on the floor due to insufficient beddings.

However, the state Taskforce on COVID-19 countered the claim, saying the isolation centre is adequate to accommodate a large number of patients. According to the government, there 95 people in its isolation centers across the state, including seven Almajirais who were brought from Kaduna State.
Udom tells coronavirus patient to stay away from A’Ibom
Akwa Ibom Governor Udom Emmanuel has warned people infected by the Coronavirus to stay away from the state.
Emmanuel gave the warning at the weekend on the state government’s official Facebook account, adding that the return of infected indigenes to the state was responsible for its current record of 35 COVID-19 positive cases.
Emmanuel said the influx has overstretched the government’s finances.
