COVID-19 Nigeria Update Today
Nigeria has recorded an additional 389 new cases of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours.
Kogi state has now recorded it’s index cases after several controversies of hiding coronavirus cases. It’s only Cross River that is without a case from all the 36 states and the FCT presently.
From the 389 cases reported by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), Lagos has 256 cases, Katsina-23, Edo-22, Rivers-14, Kano-13, Adamawa-11, Akwa Ibom-11, Kaduna-7, Kwara-6, Nasarawa-6, Gombe-2, Plateau-2, Abia-2, Delta-2, Benue-2, Niger-2, Kogi-2, Oyo-2, Imo-1, Borno-1, Ogun-1, and Anambra with one also.

From the 8733 cases reported so far in Nigeria, the number of discharged has risen to 2501 while 254 deaths have been recorded.
PTF meets with Christian leaders as process to reopen schools, worship centres begin
The Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19 has met with Christian and Islamic to begin a process to reopen schools and worship centres in the country.
The stakeholders are to fine-tune the conditions for reopening churches and mosques.
The PTF also on Wednesday urged states, local governments and private proprietors to begin to take steps towards the return of pupils and students.
It further stated that the kids returning to school is critical but must be in a safe position before the reopening.
Using the occasion of the children’s day celebration to address the matter, PTF Chairman Boss Mustapha assured them and their parents that all hands are on deck to reopen schools at a safe time.
Lagos discharges 87 COVID-19 patients
Lagos, the epicenter of the coronavirus outbreak in Nigeria has discharged another 87 recovered patients from its isolation centres.
Confirming the development via his Twitter page, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu said the additional discharges brought to 825 the total number of treated persons in the state.

He further revealed that the include 47 males and 50 females.
“Twenty-six of the patients were discharged from the Mainland Infectious Disease Hospital, Yaba, 24 from Onikan Isolation Centre, 12 from Eti-Osa (LandMark), 11 from Agidingbi, nine from Gbagada Isolation Centre and five from Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) Isolation Centres.”
PTF speaks on Cross River low testing capacity, shortage of personnel
The Presidential Task Force Team has said that Cross River State has the local capacity to test COVID-19 disease.
This was noticed by the team, which comprises experts from the Federal Ministry of Health and the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), during the team’s visit to the state.
The said the state was also grappling with other challenges like inadequate surveillance, the dearth of personnel, and other logistical problems.
The PTF said it was in discussions with the state and other stakeholders to find ways to solve those problems.
