COVID-19: ‘Smart Move By A Smart Leader’, Sports Minister Lauds Sanwo-Olu Over Food Initiative

The Sports Minister, Dare Sunday has praised Lagos Governor, Babajiode Sanwo-Olu over his food initiative, as part of palliative measures of COVID-109 in the state.

Lagos which is the epicenter of the virus has recorded 214 cases out of the nationwide.

As part of measures taken to cushion the effect pf the lockdown order, Sanwo-Olu on Tuesday announced that his administration has begun the distribution of relief items to 250,000 vulnerable residents. In addition to this, 100,000 youths will be provided one meal per day across LCDAs via the government’s food kitchens.

Reacting to the move, Dare Esan described the move as a smart one from a smart leader.

A shout out to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State on the plan to feed 100,000 youth across the 57 LGAs. A smart move by a smart leader in unusual times.Our youth remain a target group in need of support at a time like this. I urge other governors to emulate

The Lagos Governor further announced that a conditional cash transfer to 250,000 people as part of its relief package will begin while repayment on state facilitated loans to SMEs & MSMEs through LSETF will have a moratorium of 3 months to help ease the effect of the lockdown for businesses and their employees.
