Ortom Flags Off First Tito 32km Marathon Race

Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom has flagged off the maiden edition of the Tito Makurdi Marathon Road Race with a promise to subsequently partner with the organizer to make it a global event.

The event, which was organised by the Tito group of companies, attracted participants from Benue, Abuja, Kaduna, Nasarawa, Plateau and Taraba States.

Represented by the Commissioner for Industry, Trade and Investment, Merga Kachina, the Governor expressed delight with the passion with which the over 200 participants went about the competition.


Buhari Campaigns In Minna

President Muhammadu Buhari on Saturday in Minna called on eligible voters to vote massively for candidates of the All Progressives Congress ( APC) in the February and March general election .

Addressing a mammoth crowd of party supporters at Trade Fair Complex in the Niger State capital, Buhari said the APC led administration will continue to implement people-oriented policies and programmes that will enhance the well being of Nigerians.

He said that arrangement has been concluded for the construction of modern standard gauge rail line from Minna to Abuja, and to Baro Inland Water Port to enhance socio economic growth of the state.

Also speaking at the event, the National Chairman of All Progressives Congress ( APC) Adams Oshiomhole called on Nigerians to disregard the allegation by the opposition People’s Democratic Party ( PDP) that the forthcoming presidential election will be rigged .


No Plans To Order Onnoghen’s Arrest – Presidency

The Presidency has described as fake news reports of an alleged plan to arrest the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Walter Onnoghen, and frame three other Supreme Court Justices.

Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, in a statement, accused the Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) of peddling false stories in order to set the judiciary against the executive and cause major confusion ahead of the forthcoming general elections.


Onnoghen: Body Of Senior Advocates Refuses To Comment

The Body of Senior Advocates of Nigeria (BOSAN) on Saturday said it would not comment on the charges against the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Walter Onnoghen

BOSAN declined to comment stating that the case is pending before the Code of Conduct Tribunal, and that commenting on the case would be sub judice.

It, however, called for caution on the part of all the parties, urging them to ensure that the issue was resolved in the interest of the legal profession.


Resist Rigging, Edo North PDP Senatorial Candidate Tells Supporters

Edo North Senatorial candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Engr. Momoh Abubakar, has urged his supporters to vote for all the PDP candidates across board starting with the presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, himself, the House of Representatives candidate for Owan Federal Constituency, Mr Johnson Abolagba and Hilary Ozogo, the party’s candidate for Owan East Constituency for the House of Assembly seat and put an end to the long undue suffering.

Momoh who was accompanied by the party leaders across Edo North which include Alhaji Kazeem Ozeto, Chief Joshua Ogene, Mr Segun Saiki told his supporters at Afuze, headquarters of Owan East to resist any attempt by the All Progressives Congress (APC) to rig next month’s polls.


Alleged Fraud: Fayemi On Vendetta Mission, Fayose’s Aide Alleges

A media aide to former Ekiti governor Ayo Fayose has alleged that Governor Kayode Fayemi is on a vendetta mission with his decision to bring petitions of alleged financial mismanagement against some heads of public institutions in the state.

The state government through Chief Press Secretary to Governor Fayemi, Yinka Oyebode at the weekend said its probe panels had unearthed sundry fraud allegedly perpetrated in such institutions of the such as Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti (EKSU), College of Education, Ikere Ekiti, College of Science and Health Technology, Ijero, Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital, Ado Ekiti (EKSUTH) and the Broadcasting Service of Ekiti State (BSES).

But in a swift reaction at the weekend, Fayose’s aide Lere Olayinka said: “They (Fayemi’s panels) should not wait, they can go to the EFCC today and sleep there till Monday to submit their petitions against us, I am here, i will be waiting. l operated the BSES in consonance with management positions. There was no money spent during my tenure that wasn’t audited both internally and externally.”

“When I got to the place, it was using 30,000 litres of diesel per month, I reduced it to 15,000 litres in four months because 30,000 litres was fraud. lt was under Fayemi government that N15_000 litres of diesel was being stolen on monthly basis for four years”


There Is No Division In South East PDP ― Gov. Umahi

The Chairman, South East Governor’s forum and Ebonyi State Governor Engr. David Nweze Umahi has maintained that the South East PDP are united and working together to give the party victory in the forthcoming election.

Governor Umahi who gave the clarification at Iboko in Izzi Local Government Area, during the Party campaign on Saturday 19th, warned the opposition parties in the zone to desist from giving false information to the public.

He urged them not to share their votes but to return all the PDP candidates at all levels come 2019 elections and seized the occasion to announce the elevator of his former Senior Special Assistant on Health Services, an indigene of the Council area to the position of a commissioner.


PDP Rejects INEC’s Move To Accommodate APC In Rivers State

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has kicked against the moves by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to accommodate the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the general elections in Rivers state.

The PDP National Publicity Secretary, Mr Kola Ologbondiyan, said “Currently, the APC is not on the ballot and has no candidates for the governorship, Senatorial, House of Representatives and State Assembly elections in Rivers and Zamfara states following the voiding of the APC congresses in these states by the court”

“In line with this reality, the ballot paper in all elections in Rivers and Zamfara states must, under no circumstance, bear the logo of the APC”.


Gombe: Car Thief Kills 2, Tries To Escape

It was a ghastly scene at Madaki quarters of Gombe metropolis Friday when security agents battled to clampdown on an angry mob demanding swift justice to be meted out on a car thief who had a head-on collusion with a Mercedes Benz car, killing 2 of the 4 occupants of the vehicle.

According to an eyewitness, the car robber was being pursued from where he had stolen a Honda Accord at Yaya Arabi Mosque, near Union Bank roundabout, but as he was about be caught in traffic, he crossed to the other lane where he knocked down four pedestrians by a street lamp, before having a face to face collusion with a vehicle.


Wike Signs Rivers 2019 Appropriation Bill Into Law

Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike, has signed the state’s 2019 Appropriation Bill into law, with a pledge to sustain the massive development of the state.

The governor signed a budget estimate of N480, 411, 324, 647 as passed by the Rivers State House of Assembly.

Governor Wike had  on December 24, 2018, presented an appropriation bill of N480 billion  to the House for it consideration.

Signing the 2019 budget at the Government House, Port Harcourt, Governor Wike thanked members of the House of Assembly for collaborating with his administration to develop the state.
