APGA Will Kick Out Visionless Governance In Imo ― Araraume

Governorship candidate of the All Progressive Grand Alliance(APGA) in Imo State, Senator Ifeanyi Araraume has declared that an APGA-led government in Imo would kick out visionless and bad governance.

A statement from the Senator’s media office indicated that the Senator made the declaration while formally launching his 2019 campaign bid at the 40,000-capacity Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri at the weekend.

The Senator also declared that with him on the driver’s seat of Imo from May 29, the government would be able to reposition education, health, collapsed infrastructure base, security, agriculture and industrialisation.


FG Dominates Capital Raising On NSE With N1.16trn Borrowing

The Federal Government has dominated fixed income market performance at the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) in 2018 with capital raising of N1.16 per cent, representing 79.30 per cent of bond issuance in the year.

Delivering his presentation at the NSE’s 2018 Market Recap and Outlook for 2019 on Monday at the Stock Exchange House, Lagos. The Chief Executive Officer of NSE, Mr Oscar Onyema, said that fixed income market capitalization increased by 11.75 per cent to N10.17tn from N9.10tn in 2017 while noting that capital raising was dominated by the Federal Government who borrowed N1.16 trillion in a bid to finance fiscal and infrastructure deficits.

He added that State Governments raised N125.59 billion in new debt capital, while corporates raised a total of N31.47 billion, just as the market also witnessed the listing of a N100 billion FGN Ijarah Sukuk designed to finance critical road infrastructure across the country.


Tambuwal Urges Electorate To Vote Leaders That Will Secure Nigeria’s Future

Gov. Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto state on Saturday called on Nigerians to vote leaders that will protect and secure Nigeria’s future.

Tambuwal, who is also the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Sokoto state made the call while addressing party faithful at a campaign rally in Tureta town, Tureta local government.

“Nigeria can only secure its future if the people elect leaders that have the mindset of securing the country’s dreams.

“It is my sincere call on all Nigerians to vote leaders that will ensure that the dreams of our founding fathers are achieved,” he said.

Tambuwal further noted that his administration had implemented laudable progammes and laid the foundation for infrastructural and human development.


FG Shielding Akpabio From Prosecution For Corrupt Allegation ― Group

A group of concerned Nigerians under the umbrella of Civil Society Groups for Accountability and Probity have accused the Federal Government of shielding a former Governor of Akwa Ibom state and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Godswill Akpabio.

The group also urged the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to synergize with the Code of Conduct Bureau and the Code of Conduct Tribunal to ensure Akpabio is brought to book.

Secretary-General of the group, Jonathan Ogwuche, who spoke on Monday in Abuja while making a submission to the EFCC, explained that the group is committed to the fight against corruption and strengthening of institutions, which the present administration and the EFCC have led with unprecedented milestones achieved already.


Ogun APC Petitions Oshiomhole Over Amosun’s Alleged Anti-Party Activities

Members of the Ogun State Caucus of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have petitioned the National Chairman of the party, Comrade Adams Oshiomole, over the governor of the state, Senator Ibikunle Amosun’s alleged anti-party activities.

In the petition dated 7th January titled: ‘Re: Petition Against The Governor Of Ogun State Senator Ibikunle Amosun For Anti-Party Activities And Utterances’, the Caucus members called the attention of the National Chairman to alleged destructive tendencies of Amosun, towards the corporate interest of the party and its members in the state.

The petition signed by Secretary of the Caucus, Samuel Durojaye on behalf of16 others, which include Prince Dapo Abiodun (APC, governorship candidate) and his deputy governorship candidate, Engr (Mrs) Noimot Salako-Oyedele; serving and current members of the National Assembly; former deputy governor of the state, Prince Segun Adesegun among others.


FG Starts Renewable Energy Policy Implementation

The Federal Government has commenced the implementation of its renewable energy policy with the connection of about 450 shops at the popular Iponri Market in Lagos with solar power.

Speaking at an inspection tour of the off-grid facility powered by solar at the Iponri Market in Lagos at the weekend, Minister of Power Works and Housing, Mr Babatunde Fashola, said the connection of the shops to solar energy is a commitment to President Muhammadu Buhari’s ease of doing business.

Fashola said the Small Medium Enterprises (SMEs) remained the fulcrum of growth for any economy because their activities are multipliers effects, especially at the base level.


EFCC Arrests 6 Suspected Internet Fraudsters

Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have arrested six suspected internet fraudsters in separate raids carried out in Abuja.

Acting Head Media and Publicity of the Commission, Mr Tony Orilade listed the suspects as Chemezie Ezeife, Onwochei John, Onwochei Joel, Marvin Nwankwo, Prince Ojenike, and Jude Olatekobowale.

He said they were arrested following a tip-off.


Buhari, Atiku’s Absence At Debate Contempt Of Nigerians ― Olawepo-Hashim

Presidential candidate of the People’s Trust (PT), Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim, on Sunday said that the failure of the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), President Muhammadu Buhari and Alhaji Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) to appear at a presidential debate in Abuja on Saturday amounted to contempt of the electorate.

Olawepo-Hashim, who also challenged the two parties to a fresh debate said that the NEDG.BON must immediately set up a new debate featuring his party and the two big parties.

He said: “Nigerian electorate deserve to scrutinise the candidates and programmes of the two behemoths that have come to be known as the two evils of Nigerian politics. Their absence under whatever excuse(s) shows their contempt for the electorate.”


Group Hails Aisha Buhari, Ambode, Others For Identifying With Women, Youths

A group, the Buhari Osinbajo Hope Movement (BOHM), has lauded wife of the president, Hajiya Aisha Buhari; the wife of Lagos State Governor, Mrs. Bolanle Ambode and other governors’ wife that stormed Ibadan, the Oyo State capital for the South- West Women and Youth Presidential campaign rally by identifying the significant role of women and the youth in political campaigns and also factoring them into the presidential campaign.

National Coordinator of BOHM, Mr. Seyi Bamigbade, gave the commendation in a statement, saying they all deserved to be commended for the zeal they brought into the political arena.

He said Aisha Buhari, who was represented by wife of Vice President, Mrs. Dolapo Osinbajo, had demonstrated her moral probity as the conscience of the country by speaking out when necessary, even though it affected her immediate family.


Military, Boko Haram In Fierce Battle In Yobe

Nigerian Military troops are currently engaging some members of the Boko Haram terrorist group in a fierce battle at Buni Yadi, Yobe State.

An Air Force jet was seen flying with full speed to the area, firing incessantly at the insurgents.

A source said “A serious gun battle occurred at Buni Yadi this evening between our troops and Boko Haram.”
