Labour Party House Of Assembly Candidate Joins APC In Ogun

A House of Assembly candidate of the Labour Party in Ogun State, Mrs Bukola Adesanya, has dumped the party for the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Adesanya until her defection was the LP Assembly candidate for Ijebu North-East State Constituency in the forthcoming election.

Adesanya said her decision to jettison her ambition was based on the directive of the Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Adetona, that all sons and daughters of Ijebuland and the entire Ogun East senatorial district must support the candidacy of Abiodun.


Senate 2019: IPAC Adopts Ifeanyi Uba For Senate

No fewer than twenty politicàl parties in Anambra State under the umbrella of Iner-Party Advisory Council IPAC, have adopted Dr. Ifeanyi Uba of the Young Progressive Party YPP, for the Anambra South senatorial seat àt the forthcoming 2019 general election to represent his people at the National Assembly Abuja.

The parties after signing memorandum of understanding with the candidate, stated that they adopted him after, due consideration interms of capacity, purposefulness, found out that Uba is more capable and people oriented person for the post.


Kwara 2023: North Leaders Express Divergent Views

The elders of  All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Kwara North senatorial district has dissociated itself from the reported agreement with the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the forthcoming general elections in the state.

The people said that the purported Memorandum of Understanding reached with Senator Bukola Saraki, traditional rulers and stakeholders from the North meant nothing.

It is recalled that the ruling PDP in the state on Sunday announced that it had signed a pact with the Kwara North people to shift governorship position to the zone in 2023.


Africa’s Fate, Future Occupy Core Of 2018 Atlantic Dialogues

Since its inception in 2012, the Atlantic Dialogues conference seeks to bring the South Atlantic to the forefront of global geopolitical debate.

A Moroccan think tank, OCP Policy Centre, now referred to as Policy Centre for the New South, saddled with the responsibility of organising the conference, has on its agenda to promote sharing of expertise on economic issues and international relations among countries in the Atlantic sphere   particularly those in the South including South America that share challenges of developing countries.

The Policy Centre for the New South also seeks to rally nations to contribute to strategic decision-making through four research programmes that are critical to Africa. These include: agriculture, environment and food security, economic and social development, finance, conservation of raw materials, manufacturing, geopolitics and international relations.


One Feared Dead As Customs, Smugglers Clash In Owode, Ogun

Pandemonium was let loose on Tuesday in Owode, Ogun State when irate youths marched on formations of the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS) located in Ajilete following an unsuccessful raid on a Celestial Church of Christ (CCC) parish by Customs officers on Monday which left one of the smugglers sustaining gunshot wound and five Customs officers injured.

Customs officials had stormed the CCC church on Monday after discovering loads of smuggled bags of rice hidden in vehicles parked inside the church premises by suspected smugglers but were unable to cart away the banned items due to resistance by irate youths purportedly mobilised by the smugglers.


2019: Agbaje Promises Equity For Lagos 5 Divisions 

The Governorship candidate of Lagos State chapter of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr Jimi Agbaje, has promised to develop all the five divisions of the state into viable economic hubs.

The PDP candidate equally promised to address the numerous socio-political and economic dislocations that affected indigenes of the state in the last 20 years of the current democratic dispensation.

Agbaje gave this promise in Ikorodu when he met with representatives of the five divisions of the state under the umbrella of the Conference of Indigenous Associations of Lagos State (CIALS).


We’re Pacesetter In The Implementation Of SDGs ― El-Rufai

Kaduna State governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, has said his state stands out as a pacesetter in the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The governor explained that Kaduna made history as first state in Nigeria to present an in-depth analysis of its SDGs data and strategy for implementation at the 72nd United Nations General Assembly.

El-Rufai, who spoke at the Kaduna State SDGs acceleration conference, held in Kaduna on “Development Vision and Aspiration of Kaduna State within the context of the SDGs and the 2030’’ on Tuesday said his administration has made progress by adopting the SDGs targets and indicators, investing in data that allows “us to know where we are coming from and what we have achieved so far.”


UI Academics Debate Over Buhari Administration

Arguments for and against were rendered as academics of the University of Ibadan, on Tuesday, joined the 2019 political discourse on whether President Muhammadu Buhari should be reelected or voted out.

Gathered at a round table themed, “Of Wailers and Hailers of the Nigerian Space,” at the institution’s Staff Club,  critics the three points agenda of the Buhari administration of security, economy and corruption posited that the nation had become worse off than 2015, while supporters maintained that Buhari deserved a second term to consolidate upon the achievements recorded.

At the event with Professor Remi Raji-Oyelade as moderator, ‘Hailers’ to include Professor Idowu Farai posited that Buhari is right to be reelected going by his achievements in road and rail infrastructure like the Lagos-Calabar, Lagos-Ibadan-Kano, Port Harcourt-Maiduguri, Ajaokuta-Warri rail projects.

On the other hand, ‘wailers’ like Dr Kemi Ademola-Aremu argued that Buhari does not deserve a second term going by high unemployment, low life expectancy, high poverty level, erosion of the middle class and non-functionality of the local government system.
