Danny Young sues Tiwa Savage for N200M over copyright infringement

Danny Young has sued Tiwa Savage for N200M following his copyright infringement claim.

Upcoming Nigerian musician, Danny young has instituted a law suit against Nigerian superstar, Tiwa Savage.

Danny Young is seeking damages to the tune of N200M following a copyright infringement case he has launched against Tiwa Savage.

iDONSABI.com gathered that Danny Young had filed the charge at a Lagos federal high court on February 13 2019.

Danny Young also copied Tiwa Savage’s signed record label, Mavin Records in the lawsuit.

The lawsuit with suit number FHC/L/CS/230/2019 is seeking that Tiwa Savage pay the allegedly aggrieved Danny Young the sum of N200M in damages for a copyright infringement.

The male singer had some time last year, in 2018 raised a media allegation against his female counterpart for an alleged copyright infringement of one of his songs, Oju Tiwon which was released in 2009.

According to the singer, Tiwa Savage had copied his song into her 2018 release titled One.

This is coming after YouTube which had taken One down following the copyright infringement accusation from Danny Young’s camp restored the song back on its platform after it had done due diligence.

Quarters familiar with the case have opined that having one line of music similar to another music does not constitute a copyright infringement.
