De Ligt Responds to Cristiano Ronaldo Plea To Join Juventus

Ajax captain, Matthijs de Ligt has issued a reply to Cristiano Ronaldo who urged him to move to Juventus during the summer transfer window.

Ronaldo was seen speaking to the Dutch following his country’s UEFA Nations League triumph over Netherlands.

De Ligt was quizzed on what exactly the subject of the conversation was and confirmed to Dutch publication outfit, NOS that the Portuguese has instructed him to move to Turin to sign for Juventus.

“That could well be true”, said the 19 year old.

“What I answered? I didn’t understand him at first. So I said….no, I didn’t say anything”

He added: “I was a bit shocked, that’s why I laughed. But I didn’t say anything. Just after the game you just feel bad that you’ve lost, that’s all you’re thinking about.”

Ronaldo isn’t the only one who has supposedly dished out transfer advice to the Dutch starlet in recent weeks.

His former teammate at Ajax and the Dutch National team who now plays for Barcelona, Frenkie de Jong has also spoken about De Ligt in the press urging him to join him at Barcelona.

“He has to make his own decisions,” said De Jong.

“Of course I would like him to come to Barcelona but we will see what happens. It’s up to him.

“I don’t know, it’s his decision. You have to ask him about it but I hope he comes to Barca. Of course we talk about it”

“It’s not up to me to say what he’s going to do or his thoughts. I don’t have an influence on his choice. He has to make it on his own and with his family.”

When De Ligt was quizzed by Mundo Deportivo on whether he would take to the advise of any of these two players, the 19 year old was assertive in his response stressing that he doesn’t pay attention to anyone and would ultimately make the best choice for himself.
