Derby Offer Lampard Huge Fee To Discourage Him From A Move To Chelsea

Derby have shown their greatest intent at keeping Frank Lampard at Derby with a last-ditch attempt at discouraging the English gaffer from a move to the Stamford Bridge.

Lampard is wanted in London to replace the departed Maurizio Sarri who has signed with Turin giants, Juventus.

However, Derby are more than determined to keep the former English International who led them to a Championship play-off position and have put together a huge £10m contract to convince him to stay.

Derby owner, Mel Morris is looking to keep Lampard with the Rams by offering the rookie manager a four year deal worth around £2.5m a year.

The Chelsea legend remains the odds-on favourite to take charge at the Stamford Bridge where he spent 13 glittering years as a player and went on to become the London club’s all-time highest goal scorer.

Lampard’s debut season as a manager saw him take Derby to the Championship play-off final where they lost out to Aston Villa.

Maurizio Sarri’s move to the Serie A after just one year in charge at Chelsea has seen former player  Frank Lampard emerge as favourite to land the Blues job.

Derby owner, Morris has publicly stated his desire to keep the rookie manager and will rip up his current £1.75m pay package to put his money where his mouth is.

If the Engkish gaffer does make a leave to London, Derby could receive as much as £4 million in consolation but that would feel little compared to the magnitude of rebuilding they would have to face with a new man in charge.

Derby County still claim they have received no official approach from Chelsea, but all signs indicate that Lampard could tell Morris he wants to leave when he returns from his summer break.

The Derby manager is currently spending his summer with his wife at St. Tropez.
