Dogara urges Muslims to Reflect Lessons and Virtues Learnt during Ramadan

– Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Yakubu Dogara has joined Muslim in the celebration of El Fitr Sallah

The Spiritual Head of Muslims in Nigerian, Sultan of Sokoto, Alh. Sa’ad Abubakar III yesterday officially announced the sighting of the new moon, which means Eid el Fitr celebration will be marked on Tuesday in Nigeria.

A statement released by Bashir Ahmad, President Buhari’s aide also confirmed the report, he wrote, “Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III has officially announced the sighting of the new crescent. Tomorrow, Tuesday, June 4th, will be the 1st of Shawwal 1440 AH and also Eid el Fitr. Nigeria has joined Saudi Arabia and other countries to observe #Eid tomorrow.”

To mark the celebration which is Today, Nigerian Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Yakubu Dogara has sent a message to Nigerian Muslims as they mark Eid el Fitr.

The Honourable Speaker in his statement urged muslims to reflect on the lessons and virtues learned during the Ramadan.

He also urged them to use the moment to pray for Nigeria over the challenges facing the country.

The Lawmaker stated that the occasion is a period to remember the downtrodden and people in difficult situations.

Yakubu Dogara said, “I felicitate with the Muslim Ummah on the occasion of eid El Fitr Sallah celebration which signal the end of holy month of Ramadan, I urge you to reflect the lessons & virtues of sacrifice, forgiveness, piety, self-denial & genuine love towards one another learnt during Ramadan.

I urge you to also offer special prayers for the nation, for peace & unity & wisdom to overcome challenges being faced in security & economy. Use the time to also remember the downtrodden who struggle to make ends as well as other people in difficult situations.”
