Dortmund Sign Emre Can From Juventus On Loan

Juventus midfielder, Emre Can has made way to the Westfalenstadion for the rest part of the 2019-20 campaign after failing to rack up impressive performances in his time with the Serie A champions.

The former Liverpool midfielder completed a loan move to Borussia Dortmund on transfer deadline day.

The Bundesliga outfit are also obligated to sign the German for £21 million if some conditions are met.

With Euro 2020 staring in the face of the German, he’s sought regular football to give him a fighting chance in the German National Team, having been limited to eight appearances in the Serie A this term.

“I think the team has great potential and can win something,” the midfielder told the media at his official unveiling on Friday.

“I am convinced that I can help them and can’t wait to play in front of these fans for whom Borussia Dortmund is known all over the world for the first time.”

The 28-year-old made a switch to the Allianz stadium from Liverpool on a free transfer in 2018, making 38 outings for the Biaconeris in his first term there.

He helped Juventus win their eighth successive Serie A title, as well as, the Supercoppa Italiana but fell right down the pecking order after Maurizio Sarri was brought in to replace Massimiliano Allegri.

Miralem Pjani, Adrien Rabiot, Blaise Matuidi and Rodrigo Bentancur – in no particular order – have been given the nod over Can, who was also left out of Juventus’ 25-man Champions League squad.

Fabio Paratici, Juventus Sporting director insisted at the start of the season that the former Liverpool midfielder would remain at the club but turned a corner when offers started pouring in.

Can who had previously turned out for Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen is now charged with helping Dortmund through their Bundesliga title charge and unprecedented success in the Champions League.
