– Edo Election: Gov. Godwin Obaseki disclosed that he is optimistic of a peaceful election

– He disclosed that adequate security measures have been put in place to enhance a peaceful election

The Governor of Edo State, Mr. Godwin Obaseki in a statement has made it known that the people of the state are ready to take part in the 2019 House of Assembly election which is taking place today.

He disclosed that the people of Edo have been anticipating the election as he hinted that there is adequate security.

Mr. Godwin Obaseki disclosed that the state is ready to raise it bar higher in terms of security of life and property after the 2019 Presidential and Governorship election.

The Governor gave this assurance in the state capital, Benin yesterday.

He also reached out to the youths in the state as he urged them not to allow themselves to be used as tools by politicians for actions that are contrary to the election acts and other laws of the country.

Below is am extract from the statement released by Gov. Godwin Obaseki,

As a state we are optimistic that the election will be peaceful across the state. We are ready to raise the bar higher in the area of security of life and property, after the state’s outing in the Presidential and National Assembly elections.

“I urge our youths not to allow themselves to be used by politicians for actions that run contrary to the provisions of the Electoral Act and other laws of the country.”

Like some other states in the country, Edo State will not be observing the Governorship election today, this is because the current state Gov. Godwin Obaseki came to power in November 2016, the State Governorship Election will hold next year.
