Edward Onoja Confirmed As Kogi Deputy Governor, Sworn-in By Chief Justice

  • Speaker charges Onoja to be loyal to Governor Bello.
  • CJ Ajana administered the oath of office on Onoja.

The Kogi State House of Assembly has confirmed Deputy Governor-nominee, Edward Onoja, after being screened by members of the parliament in Lokoja, the state capital on Monday, October 21, 2019.

This means that Onoja, the former Chief of Staff to the Governor, Yahaya Bello has now been certified as the deputy governor of the state.

He was screened by the lawmakers at exactly 8:27 am at the legislative chamber of the Assembly complex in Lokoja.

The lawmakers later asked him to take a bow, paving the way for his inauguration to replace the embattled former deputy governor of the state, Simon Achuba.

Speaking, the Speaker of the House, Prince Mathew Kolawole, charged him to support the vision of governor Bello towards bringing more development in the state.

The Chief Judge of the state, Justice Nasir Ajana, thereafter administered the oath of office Onoja who was accompanied by his wife.

In attendance was Governor Bello, some members of the State House of Assembly, and top government officials in the state.
