EFCC Arraigns Oyo-Ita in Court Over Alleged Fraud

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Monday arraigned former Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs Oyo-Ita on allegations bordering on fraud amongst other charges at the Federal High Court, in Abuja.

She was eventually granted a N100million bail by Justice Taiwo Taiwo after pleading not guilty to the 18-count charge against her. She was arraigned with two of her former aides – Garba Umar and Ubong Okon Effiok and six companies.

In his ruling, Justice Taiwo granted Oyo-Ita bail at N100m while Umar and Effiok got bail at N50m each. He also directed that each of the defendants must provide two sureties, among other conditions.

Justice Taiwo also ordered that they should be released to their lawyer, with a condition that they must report at the office of the (EFCC) for the next seven days until they meet the bail conditions.

The judge warned that they will be remanded in custody should they fail to meet the bail conditions at the expiration of the seven days.
