England Vs Czech Republic Euro 2020 Qualifiers 22 March Preview

The Three Lions of England kick off their Euro 2020 qualifying campaign in a home game against Czech Republic on Hallowed Turf.

The English team enjoyed a memorable World Cup in 2018 and would be aiming to build on that form.

The summer of 2018 will not be forgotten in such a hurry by many fans of the English team with the three Lions having reached the semi-finals of the World Cup.

Never in recent times will they be going into a match with such optimism amongst players and supporters alike. They’ve worked tirelessly to put together a formidable team.

The Three Lions gaffer in particular has been present in so many matches scouting home grown players and monitoring their performances for club.

Despite being set back by recent injuries to five players of the England squad, Southgate has been able to call in-form and formidable youngsters, Hudson-Odoi and Ward-Prowse into the team, giving the hint that this England team has some squad depth working for them.

They have been incredible at Wembley and Spain remains the only visiting team to have beaten England on Hallowed Turf in almost three years.

Gareth Southgate will be hopeful that the English team sweep off everyone on their route to the Euro 2020 competition.

Czech Republic

Czech Republic have lost their way in recent years and are considerably the underdogs going into this fixture.

That said, their FIFA rankings suggest that they should be favourites to earn the best of the rest tag after England and earn the second qualifying spot for Euro 2020.

However, they were eliminated in the group stages of Euro 2016, never qualified for a World Cup since 2006 and finished four points behind Northern Ireland in the 2018 World Cup qualifiers.

They have a big game on their hands and would be willing to cause an upset to the English team.

Team News

Delph, Loftus-Cheek, Stones, Luke Shaw and Alexander-Arnold have been withdrawn due to injuries while Ward-Prowse and Hudson-Odoi have been called in for their replacements.

Czech Republic no longer have the safe hands of Petr Cech and would now be looking to either of Matej Vydra or Tomas kalas to take a place in between the sticks while Schick still remains their dangerman up front.
