Fayemi becomes the new Chairman of Nigerian Governors Forum

– Dr. John Kayode Fayemi has been named the new Chairman of the Nigerian Governors Forum NGF

According to the latest report, the Ekiti State Governor and member of the All Progressive Congress APC, Dr. Kayode Fayemi has been elected as the new Chairman of the Nigerian Governors Forum NGF.

The reports made it known that the election was done last night and the announcement was made by the Zamfara State Governor, Abdulaziz Yari who happens to be the outgoing chairman of the NGF.

Another report made it known that Kayode Fayemi was chosen by a consensus following his nomination by Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, while Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa seconded the nomination.

The reports added that Sokoto State Governor Aminu Tambuwal was voted as the deputy chairman in the governor’s forum and will act in that capacity alongside Fayemi.

Kayode Fayemi in his statement appreciated the governors for the trust vested on him, he, however, promised to work for the overall interest of Nigerians.

According to information gathered by iDonsabi.Com, Gov. Kayode Fayemi from Ekiti is the only Governor from the Southern part of the country that is eligible to run for the post owing to the fact that he is the only Governor from the region that is in his second term.

According to the rules of election of the NGF only Governors in their second term can contest.

There are eligible candidates from the northern part of the country but the Chairmanship is done on rotational basis and since Yari, who is the outgoing Chairman is from the north, it means the new Chairman must come from the South.

Also, information revealed that Kayode Fayemi is the first Chairman to come from the South West.
