Fears Heighten in South Korea As 51 Recovered COVID-19 Patients Test Positive Again

The level of fear over COVID-19 has been heightened in South Korea after 51 recovered patients got infected again.

According to  Korea’s Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (KCDC), the patients are from the country’s epicenter, Daegu.

They were put in quarantine after being diagnosed with the virus, then tested positive again days being released.

KCDC said that the virus was likely ‘reactivated’, rather than patients becoming re-infected.

Scientists at the Government-run health body believe the virus may lay dormant at undetectable levels in human cells and the viral particles can then be reactivated and start attacking the lungs once more.

For unknown reasons, there is no evidence to prove that the virus acts in this way and studies in monkeys have actually shown the opposite.

According to experts, patients may likely produce a positive result twice because of a test giving the wrong result, which happens once in five times.
