Bruno Fernandes registered his name on the scoresheet as Manchester United thrashed Watford at Old Trafford.
The Portugese midfielder opened the floor for scoring even as further goals from Anthony Martial and Mason Greenwod further compounded the woes of the visiting side.
The former Sporting star insisted that he will help the Red devils in the actualization of their Champions League dreams.
With under a dozen games to play till the end of the campaign, United are now in fifth place on the league standings.
Manchester United in fifth place are assured of a second season in the Europa League. However, they can still sneak their way into the Champions League since they only trail fourth-placed Chelsea by three points.
Bruno who arrived Old Trafford from Sporting after months of speculation has proven to be an important recruit from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has insisted that United will be going into the Champions League next season after consecutive season in Europe’s second-tier competition.
The 25-year-old in an interview with the BBC after the game said:
“This is what I want to do and what I need to do
“Everyone knows we want to get into the Champions League places. I am here to help the team conquer this place and keep winning games.”
“This is the day every player wants to have. I feel lucky to score, I feel lucky to win the game. We all gave our best and we all deserved the win. I just need to help the team, it’s what I want to do, it’s what I need to do. I hope Martial scores more goals too like he did tonight.”
Bruno Fernandes has now etched in name in the record books as being the first United player in the history of the Premier League to score a penalty as his first goal for the club in England’s top-tier.
