Fernandes Scores For The Third Straight Game As United Force Draw Against Everton

Bruno Fernandes got on the scoresheet yet again as he helped Manchester United salvage a draw against Everton. The former Sporting skipper made the headlines for a section of the fans while for some others, it was the VAR call at the death of the game.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin put the hosts ahead just inside of three minutes after a howler from Red devils goalie, David de Gea. The Spaniard gifted the hosts a goal on a platter after watching an on onrushing Calvert-Lewin deflect the ball into his net.

January signing Bruno Fernandes then levelled matters before the interval. The creative midfielder shot from a distance on receiving a pass from McTominay but that soft seemed a tad too heavy for Jordan Pickford to scoop.

The glorious opening to proceedings in the first forty-five minutes was marred by a confrontation between Calvert-Lewin and Luke Shaw with both players receiving a yellow card each.

Nonetheless, both sides had beautifully crafted chances that could have put them in front but none got lucky in front of goal. Ighalo had a fine chance to put United in front following a cross from Bruno Fernandes.

Everton also had the chance to snatch a late winner but Calvert-Lewin’s effort following a saved shot from Sigurdsson was disallowed by a VAR review.

United had the chance to close fourth-placed Chelsea points gap ahead of them to within one point but they couldn’t make the most out of the Blues slip against Bournemouth.

Chelsea had to rally late to force a 2-2 draw with Bournemouth inadvertently throwing the top four race wide open with four teams jostling for a place in next season’s Champions League football.

The Red devils with that draw are now three points adrift of the London Blues with Wolves lurking around in sixth place.
