Festus Keyemo celebrates Gani Fawehinmi 81st posthumous birthday

– Keyamo in his statement disclosed he is a staunch disciple of the late lawyer

Today, 22nd of April 2019 marks the 81st posthumous birthday of Chief Gani Fawehinmi, who happened to be one of the best legal practitioners in Nigeria and one that wouldn’t be easily forgotten in the country’s political scene.

In a form of celebrating the late lawyer cum human right activist, one of Nigeria’s current top lawyers, Festus Keyamo in a statement today applauded the late icon.

Festus Keyamo disclosed that the late Chief Gani Fawehinmi was his boss, who hated corruption and stood by president Muhammadu Buhari till the end.

Keyamo stated that he is still on the path left by the late Fawehinmi.

Happy 81st posthumous birthday to my boss, Chief Gani Fawehinmi. You abhorred corruption; that’s why you stood by PMB till death. Your staunch disciples & your son, Mohammed, are still on the path you left for us. Thank u for standing by me in all my struggles. Rest in peace, sir,” Festus Keyamo wrote via his Twitter handle..

The late Chief Gani Fawehinmi with full name Abdul-Ganiyu Oyesola SAN GCON was born 22 April 1938 in Ondo state and died 5 September 2009.

During his lifetime, Chief Gani Fawehinmi was known as a respected Nigerian author, publisher, philanthropist, social critic, seasoned lawyer, politician and human right activist.

Gani Fawehinmi was also the lawyer to late Dele Giwa, who died as a result of letter bomb.

The late lawyer during his lifetime was arrested, detained and charged to court several times. Also his international passport was seized on different occasions.

Reports had it that his residence and Chambers were searched several times as well.
