Fortify Security Agencies With Sophisticated Weapon, Cleric Advises Buhari

  • Advises FG to reactivate moribund factories to provide jobs.
  • Urge Ondo governor to provide security surveillance gadget in the state.

Archbishop Gabriel Akinbiyi, of Anglican Communion Ondo Province, has called on the federal government to provide more highly sophisticated weapons for security agencies to fight Boko Haram and other insurgency groups in Nigeria.

Akinbiyi, an Archbishop made the call at the 12th Synod of the Diocese of Akoko, Anglican Communion at The Cathedral of St Stephen, Ikare-Akoko, Ondo State.

The cleric noted that the increasing spate of killings, kidnapping and fears in people’s mind across the Nation is worrisome, stating that it deserves more government decisive action against insurgencies in Nigeria.

Describing the high rate of banditry as alarming as the killer herdsmen farmlands and kill, he said this call for Government decisive and reassuring actions because the first major responsibility of the government is to the protection of lives and properties.

He called on the federal government to set up its operation to completely eradicate Boko Haram terrorists by providing security forces with high sophisticated fighting equipment’s.

The cleric, therefore, charged President Muhammadu Buhari to perform his statutory duties devoid of religious sentiment and accord every religion in the country with equal respects and rights due to them.

The Archbishop also urged the ruling government to take a critical look at unemployment by creating job opportunities by revamping all our moribund factories, refineries and providing institutions of learning with the necessary equipment to aid the learning process.

The cleric who expressed appreciation to Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu for the dualisation work in some major towns in Akure, Ikare, Owo, Ore and the ongoing rehabilitation on Owo-Ikare Road by Governor Rotimi Akeredolu also drew the attention of the Ondo government to the deplorable condition of Ugbe- Epinmi road, Ikaram – Akunu road and Ikare – Okeagbe – Oyin road, which he said require serious and urgent repairs.

While lamenting the spate the state of banditry which had seriously spread across Ondo State, the cleric added that people now fear to travel from one town to the other all because of incessant kidnapping.

He, therefore, called upon the Ondo State government as a matter of urgency to acquire air surveillance equipment to facilitate aerial monitoring of our ground space.
