Genevieve’s Movie, LionHeart Is Nigeria’s Pick For Oscars 2020 Submission

Genevieve’s LionHeart has been confirmed as the Nigeria’s submission for 2020 Oscars Awards in the International Feature Film Category.

The movie stars Genevieve Nnaji, Pete Edochie, Nkem Owoh, Onyeka Onwenu Kanayo .O. Kanayo, Chika Okpala, Kalu Ikeagwu, Sanni Mu’azu, Yakubu Mohammed, Ngozi Ezeonu, Peter Okoye (P-Square) and Chibuzor Azubuike (Phyno).

It was produced by Chinny Onwugbenu, Chichi Nwoko, Genevieve Nnaji, and directed by Genevieve Nnaji, marking her directorial debut. The movie was acquired on September 7, 2018, as the first Netflix original film produced in Nigeria.

It was later released in January 4, 2019 in Nigeria. ‘Lionheart’ primarily set in Enugu, Nigeria tells the story of a young woman, Adaeze Obiagu (Genevieve Nnaji), who was overwhelmed with the responsibility of running her sick father’s (Pete Edochie) transportation company (Lion Heart).
