Gov. Okowa says there will be need to build at least 5 more drainages in Asaba

– Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa Today inspected the drainage projects that are being constructed in Asaba

– The Governor disclosed that there would be need to construct at least five more drainages in order to control the flow of flood

The Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa was at some discharge points of drainage projects which are being built in Asaba, the state capital.

This project are currently ongoing in order to combat flood especially as the raining season continues.

Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa in his statement disclosed that 3 critical drainage projects are being worked on, he, however, noted that there would be need to construct at least five more to control the flow of flood water in Asaba.

The Governor added that he is certain that the completion of the ongoing drainage projects will remarkably reduce the water overflow in the state capital, he added that his administration is ready to face the challenge.

He said, ”As the raining season continues, today, I inspected several discharge points of the storm drainage projects that are currently being built in parts of our state capital, Asaba.

Currently, we have 3 critical drainages that are being worked, however, there is a need to construct at least 5 more in order to control the flow of flood water in the State Capital.

It is my firm belief that the completion of these ongoing drainage projects will remarkably reduce the water overflow in Asaba. There is still a lot more work to be done, and this administration is up for the challenge.”

Also another report has made it known that the state government has approved the payment of salary arrears to local government workers and old minimum wage owed to primary school teachers from April 2011 to June 2012.
