Grandma Rubs Pepper On Her Hungry Grandkids For Collecting Garri Without Her Consent
A 52-year-old grandma, identified as Mama Vera, has been arrested in Rivers State for brutalizing her grandchildren by rubbing pepper on them for collecting garri to drink without her consent.
According to reports, her grandkids started living with her three years ago after they lost their mother.
It was also reported that she maltreats the grandchildren, aged 8 and 7, stopped them from attending school and sometimes locked them inside the room for days without food.
Their neighbours in Mgbuoba community, Rivers State, who reported the incident to the police, disclosed that they heard the cries of the children, went to the apartment and discovered the door was locked.
However, they forced the door open and discovered the two girls has been stripped naked and tied with an electric wire. It was also discovered that she had rubbed pepper all over their bodies.
According to the neighbours, they untied the children, revitalized them and the kids revealed that they were being punished for collecting garri and sugar to drink due to hunger without their grandmother’s permission.
Precious Johnmark, a lawyer who witnessed the incident, is also calling on the International Federation of Women Lawyers, to follow the case and ensure the prosecution of Mama Vera.
