Antoinne Griezmann has revealed that it’s been difficult to strike a relationship with Barcelona talisman, Lionel Messi.
The World Cup winner is struggling to find his foot at the Catalan club since his £107million switch from Atletico Madrid.
The French man arrived following a lengthy pursuit by the Spanish giants amidst reports that Messi wanted the return of Neymar to the Camp Nou instead.
There have been rumours of a frosty relationship between the duo.
And now the forward has admitted to a little friction in relationship with the five time Balon D’Or winner.
The 28-year-old attacker said:
“He is not someone who talks a lot and neither am I. It’s difficult.
“I have already given him some mate (tea) and we are going in the right direction.
“But he has been injured a lot so it is difficult to make this connection, to improve it.
“We are two good guys, nice people, and I’m here to help anyone on the team.”
With Lionel being out of team for the most parts of the campaign due to injury, there has been little chance of a cohesion on the pitch of play between both players.
During this period, Griezmann has found the net only three times in eight of his appearances for the Blaugranas; a disappointing return for someone expected to shoulder the attacking threat of the club in Messi’s absence.
Meanwhile, Messi and Suarez maintain a close relationship while Griezmann is forced to look in from the outside.
The former Atletico Madrid striker however has the chance to cement a good understanding with the Argentine when they take on Inter Milan in their Champions League draw.
Messi has been announced to be part of the squad to take on the Italian outfit after the Barcelona captain shook off an injury that has kept him on the sidelines for sometime now.
