Atletico Madrid club chief executive, Gill Martin has said that the club has known about Antoinne Griezmann summer move to Barcelona since March in spite of the French forward hinting sometime ago that his future may lie somewhere else.
Madrid’s club chief has seemingly ended the mystery behind Griezmann’s summer transfer stating that Barcelona was indeed his destination.
The French forward had announced at the end of the 2018/19 campaign that he was bringing a halt to his five year stay at the Wanda Metropolitano.
While Barcelona have been continuously mentioned as the closest to signing the forward, a shadow is still cast on the feasibility of the transfer.
Griezmann endured a rough reception from Blaugrana fans on his last visit to the Nou Camp and has been a bit hesitant in declaring that Barcelona was his own destination and therefore allowing other clubs make their own approach with Manchester United also interested in the French forward.

However, according to Gill Martin, Barcelona is he only feasible destination for the world cup winner.
“I am very certain where Antoine will play, we have known since March,” he explained to Movistar Plus’ Toros on Wednesday.
“It is in Barcelona.”
Part of the motivation behind such delay might not be unconnected to a clause in his contract that the 2018 World Cup winner is subject to a release clause worth a whopping 200 million if he moves away from Atletico Madrid before July 2019.
From July 1, that figure drops drastically to a budget-friendly 130m.
Recent comments from Greizmann suggest that he is running out of patience with Barcelona and could indeed consider a move elsewhere.
“As I said, I know where I want to go,” he explained to reporters following France’s 4-0 defeat of Andorra on Tuesday.
“I am also keen to get this over with as quickly as possible. I don’t know if I will stay in La Liga.”
