Guardiola Loses Mum At 82 To Deadly Coronavirus

Premier League giants, Manchester City have announced that manager, Pep Guardiola lost his mum to COVID-19.

Guardiola’s mum aged 82 died after testing positive to Coronavirus. The club made this public knowledge via their official Twitter handle after Dolors Sala Carrio was said to have died in Barcelona.

The statement released by the Citizens read:

“The Manchester City family are devastated to report the death today of Pep’s mother Dolors Sala Carrio in Manresa, Barcelona after contracting coronavirus. She was 82 years old.

“Everyone associated with the club sends their most heartfelt sympathy at this most distressing time to Pep, his family and all their friends.”

Tributes to Dolors Sala have begun to come in from all corners as even City rivals, Manchester Unoted sent a heart felt post of theirs.

Manchester United’s statement read: “Everyone at Manchester United is saddened to hear this terrible news. We send our heartfelt condolences to Pep and his family.”

Spain has been one of the devastated countries by the COVID-19 outbreak with 135,032 cases reported and 13,055 deaths recorded to date.

Spanish gaffer, Guardiola donated a large sum of €1million to Barcelona’s Angel Soler Daniel Foundation and Medical College last month. The funds were aimed at providing personal protection equipment for medical personnel who are working on the frontline.

Many countries across Europe and around the world have enforced a partial or total lockdown situation to contain the further spread of the Coronavirus. It remains unclear when curfews will be lifted and normal life resumed.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) has singled out Europe as the epicentre of the Coronavirus outbreak on March 13, as the number of confirmed cases continues to rise exponentially.

Almost all leagues across the country have been brought to a toal shutdown, as the fight against the potentially deadly virus rages on.
