Guardiola Thinks Neymar Will Not Be The Same With Return To Barcelona

Pep Guardiola has shared his concerns about Neymar amidst the Brazilian’s unhappiness at Paris Saint Germain and want for a move to former club Barcelona.

Guardiola says he doubts whether Neymar was going to be same player who left Barcelona for PSG.

Meanwhile, the French giants are reportedly seeking to keep him rather than allow their most expensive signing leave without meeting their stated goal of winning the Champions League.

And present Manchester City manager, Guardiola who won three La Liga titles and two Champions League during his time at the Nou Camp is sceptical about the shape of the player who scored 105 goals in four seasons during his time at Barcelona.

“Neymar is an extraordinary player,” the Manchester City gaffer told Cataluña newspaper Ara .

“But I don’t know. It’s like if I go back to Barcelona, I am not the same person, and I don’t know if Neymar would be the same. Well, he is great, nobody doubts it.

Neymar was a critical part of the Blaugrana side who won a domestic and European treble under the tutelage of Luis Enrique, defeating Juventus by a 3-1 title to lift  their fourth Champions League title in as many as 10 years.

Together with Messi and Suarez, the Brazilian was a key part of a three pronged attack at Barcelona known as MSN. The side was credited with a more direct and pacey game different from the patient possession football played at Camp Nou during the time of Guardiola.

It is widely reported that Barcelona talisman, Lionel Messi is keen on seeing Neymar make a return to Barcelona as he sees his return as potential remedy to the frustrating wait for another Champions League crown.

Guardiola thinks Barcelona already possess all it needs to keep Lionel Messi happy at the Camp Nou and threw his weight around Valverde.

“I think they are there, the right players. They have always been there,” he said.

“I recently said that the two toughest rivals I have encountered in my career are Liverpool this year and Luis Enrique’s Barca.

“The Champions League is very demanding… the defensive involvement in Europe is very large.”
