Guardiola To Remain At ManCity Despite UCL Ban

Pep Guardiola is poised to remain at the Etihad stadium in spite of the UEFA ban recently placed on Manchester City.

The Citizens have been banned from participating in UEFA competitions for the next two seasons. However, City remain optimistic that their appeal against the ban would be successful.

The Spanish gaffer contrary to emerging reports is thought to favour staying put at the Etihad and seeing out his current contract.

The punishment including a £25million was handed down to the reigning English champions for violating Financial Fair play rules.

The Citizens immediately criticized the ruling by the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) and appealed against it with the League chmapions confident that the ruling can be overturned.

The ban is expected to take effect from the start of the coming season but with the appeal set to take several months, it could well thwart their summer transfer plans.

Spanish boss, Guardiola and director of football Txiki Begiristain were looking to bring in a couple of summer signings which could help them cut the gap between themselves and runaway leaders, Liverpool.

News of the ban sent shockwaves round the club but the board reassured the first team players that they would be playing Champions League football come next season.

Sources from the club say that the club would still run things normally with Guardiola making plans for the final year of his contract. This ban from UEFA sparked rumours that the former Barcelona boss could be headed out from England and perhaps to Turin with Juventus showing interests in him.

Guardiola has so far guided the Citizens to two league titles and would be looking to land a UCL title, one that could potentially be his first since leaving Barcelona. However, should the ban remain, this could be his last season at the club.
