Gunmen In Osun State Shoot One And Kidnap Two Staff Members of Bowen University

One worker of Bowen University, Iwo located in Osun State, who was yet to be identified by the University, was yesterday evening, February 11, shot, while two other people were said to have been kidnapped by gunmen along Iwo-Osogbo road in Osun state.

The Police Public Relations Officer in Osun State identified as DSP Folashade Odoro, confirmed the incident to newsmen and sources, stressing that the police in Osun State were raiding the area in order for them to apprehend the culprits and rescue those who were kidnapped along Iwo Osogbo road, Osun State.

A statement by the Police Public Relations Officer in Osun State, DSP Folashade Odoro, read:

 “Yes, two persons were kidnapped, but our men are already in the bush trying to rescue the victims and apprehend the abductors.”

Previously, an eyewitness, who spoke on condition of anonymity and neutrality, stated that the victims who were kidnapped by the gunmen and suspected kidnappers in Osun State were accosted while they were returning from work.

According to the same eyewitness in Osun State, one person, who managed to escape from the scene and eventually made his way out was shot severally in the process and the victim is currently in a critical situation at an undisclosed hospital within the area where the incident happened in Osun State.

According to different sources, it was also reported that late last year, (2018), some Methodist Church members in the state, which also included a priest were kidnapped in the same area along Iwo Osogbo late last year.

According to the sources, it was also alleged that about N3 million was paid as ransom to the kidnappers before the members of the Methodist which included a priest could regain their freedom from the kidnappers.
