Haaland Reveals Why He Chose Dortmund Over Manchester United
Norwegian youngster, Erling Haaland has revealed why he opted to join German giants, Borussia Dormund over Manchester United.
The former RB Salzburg forward said the plan mapped out by Dortmund swung his decision towards the German side over Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side.
The highly-rated forward who had attracted interest from top European clubs including Manchester United signed a four-and-a-half-year contract that will keep him at Dortmund till 2024.
Asides Manchester United, other clubs like RB Leipzig and Juventus were touted to be strong admirers of Haaland. The prolific striker has maintained strong form in front of goal, netting 28 goals in 22 appearances across all competitions.
The teenager gave reasons for his decision. He said:
“They just went direct and said, ‘We need you upfront, we like your playing style and we want to have you here’.
“I liked how they spoke to me then and that’s what triggered me [to sign]. I just felt that me and Dortmund was a good match.”

Haaland pitches his tent with Dortnubd, fourth on the Premier League standings and seven points behind Bundesliga leaders, Liepzig.
The German giants wouldn’t be playing any matches till Janaury 18 after the mid-season break.
Haaland added: “To slightly get to know people better, to train good with the team and we’ll see if I am good enough I will play and we’ll just have to see, step by step,” Haaland said of his aims at Dortmund.
“Of course, I want to play and I know I have something to give to the team. That’s my main goal now to have smaller goals and to reach them and I know it will be good.”
His agent, Mino Raiola said Haaland had the most discussions with Manchester United but thought that Old Trafford wouldn’t be the proper destination for him.
“They spoke to him the most. Everybody had the chance to talk to him in person. We let that happen especially when he knows Ole,” Raiola said in an interview with The Telegraph .
