Harry Maguire Signs Six Year Deal At Man United

Manchester United have officially signed Leicester’s Harry Maguire for a world record sum for a defender – £85million – after the English man signed a six year deal with the 20-time English champions.

The 26 year old agreed a six year deal with the option of an extra year and will now feature for the Red devils till 2025.

The fee for Maguire has now eclipsed the £75million fee Liverpool paid Southampton for Virgil Van Dijk in the 2018 January transfer window.

“When Manchester United come knocking on your door, it is an incredible opportunity,” said the England International.

With this huge fee paid, Maguire, 26 is now th4 most expensive player in the Premier League, second only to Manchester United teammate, Paul Pogba. Added to that, he’s become the second most expensive British player after Real Madrid winger, Gareth Bale who made a £85million move to the Spanish giants from Tottenham in the summer of 2013.

He is Norwegian gaffer, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s third signing of the summer after the capture of Aaron Wan Bissaka from Crystal palace (£50 million) and Swansea’s Daniel James (15 million).

Maguire who was incredibly excited with the move also said:

“From my conversations with the manager, I am excited about the vision and plans he has for the team.

“It’s clear to see that Ole is building a team to win trophies. I am now looking forward to meeting my new team-mates and getting the season started.”

Manchester United manager, Solskjaer said: “Harry is one of the best centre-backs in the game today.

“He is a great reader of the game and has a strong presence on the pitch, with the ability to remain calm under pressure.

“He will fit well into this group both on and off the pitch.”

Premier League clubs have now altogether spent more than £1bn in this summer’s transfer window.
