The first step to preparing your meat pie is making the meat filling.

Ingredients for Meat Pie Filling

2 diced Irish potatoes

2 Lbs of minced meat

Chopped quarter onion

2 tablespoons of flour

2 whole tomatoes

dash of dried pepper

Bell pepper

Seasoning

Ingredients Meat Pie Dough

4 cups of Flour

1 Tablespoonful of baking powder

500g of Margarine

1 cup of cold water

2 eggs

A Pinch of Salt

1 Teaspoonful Sugar

Directions for Making Meat Pie

Cook minced meat with seasoning. When it is done and a little stock is left, saunter in a little oil, adding the flour to make a thick gravy like mix.

Mix the flour, salt, sugar and baking powder together. Add the margarine by working thoroughly into flour.

Add half to 1 cup of cold water, while you knead your dough into a stiff ball. Test the consistency of the dough by slightly pulling.

Then use a rolling pin to flatten the dough till it smoothens and becomes flat.

Use a dough cutter to cut the dough in a circle, trim off edges. You can now add in a reasonable amount of meat filling.

When this is done, apply egg with a basting brush around the meat filling at the dough edge to hold the dough in place when you fold it.

Gently fold the dough in half over meat filling and use a fork, dipped in eggs, to press down around the edge to create the classic meatpie shape.

Remember to brush the egg over the newly folded dough to give it the golden brown look.

Place on a greased, non-stick pan in the oven preheated oven to 350 degrees.

Average baking time is 30 minute, but you can check after 20 minutes.

Trust me, if you get it right, mat pie could be addictive. You can replace meat filling with fish, chicken or turkey. It all depends on your preference.
