“I Attend Churches To Steal” – 21-year-old Suspect

The Lagos State Police has arrested a 21-year-old boy, Tokunbo Lekan after he reportedly broke into Anglican Church of Triumphant located in Ipaja area of Lagos state to steal.

The suspect allegedly stole a generator, electric wire, welding machine and other items reportedly worth about N400,000 from the church. Lekan said he was trained as a mechanic but started stealing from churches as being a mechanic wasn’t paying his bills.

Lekan entered the church in the evening and stayed till 2am before successfully carting away the items he stole. He was however caught when he returned to the church to pick his tools he forgot.

Upon interrogation, he confessed that he attends  churches to steal.

He has been arraigned before an Ejigbo magistrate court on charges of burglary and stealing. Lekan  pleaded not guilty and was granted bail of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum. The suspect will remain in prison till he meets his bail conditions.
