Odion Ighalo is definitely at a point where he needs to make the most difficult decision in his career. The Manchester United loanee has now been offered a £400,000 per week contract by his Chinese side, Shanghai Shenhua. The deal has undoubtedly been drawn out by the club to encourage him to stick with the club rather than move on to Old Trafford on a permanent basis.
The Nigerian made a move to the red half of Manchester in the January transfer window. Amidst all the questioning from fans whether he was a good fit for the Red devils, he’s gone on to notch four goals and provided one assist in as many as eight appearances before the league was suspended due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
It is thought that Ighalo has won the heart of United boss, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer that the Norwegian is considering signing him on permanent basis. The former Nigeria International is also said to be interested in signing for a club he’s always supported on a permanent basis.
According to a report by SkySports, Shanghai Shenhua are willing to shell out more cash for him to remain with them.
The former Watford striker would have his contract with the Chinese outfit expire by December 2022 and should he take the deal would remain at Shenhua till 2024, with the offered deal an extra two years contract.
It remains unclear what the United loanee would settle for in the end, with the lucrative deal a tempting offer. However, there’s no doubt that United has a special place in the heart of the striker with the forward describing his loan move to Old Trafford as a dream come true for him.
Former United centre-back was full of praise for the forward in an Instagram Live session as he hailed the former Watford striker for proving all his doubters wrong.
