INEC to hold supplementary presidential elections in Lagos, Anambra, Rivers on March 9

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will conduct supplementary elections in some parts Lagos, Anambra and Rivers on March 9 2019.

The electoral body reached the decision to conduct a supplementary presidential after a meeting with its Resident Electoral Commissioners in the affected States in Abuja on Thursday (February 28 2019).

The decision was informed by wide spread reports of violence which marred the elections and inhibited some voters in the affected area from exercising their franchise.

According to the directive by the INEC, the supplementary presidential election will hold alongside the governorship elections slated for the same March 9 2019.

Meanwhile, the Independent National Electoral Commissioner (INEC), has awarded certificate of return to President Muhammadu Buhari, the declared winner of the February 23 elections.

Buhari was declared winner after he gathered 15,191,847 votes as against 11, 262,978 votes by Atiku Abubakar.
