Instagram – Cardi B Criticises Trump Government Shutdown

Cardi B, chart-topping rapper and face behind billboard toppers, ‘Bodak Yellow’ and ‘I like it like that’ has weighed in on the non-payment of salaries by American President, Donald Trump, to federal workers.

In the past, the rapper has also aired her opinions on politically-inclined issues such as the United Narions role in Libya and age for gun ownership issues.

It should therefore spring no surprises that the music superstar is airing her opinions right now. The spine of the matter is that federal workers have been told to return to work despite failure of the government to honour their paychecks.

Important to realize is that the government is on a 27 days shutdown -the longest ever in US history – because of the desire of Trump’s administration to build a border wall.

The Bronx-born artiste showed no signs of hesitation as she criticized the decision by the American President via a 58 seconds Instagram video. It was only a matter of few minutes before the video racked up thousands of views. Also, the hashtag #CardiB started trending on twitter, something the music superstar was wowed by.

The video inspired calls by followers and viewers alike for her to run for President of the United States.

In the video, she spoke in disagreement with Trump’s stand. She emphasized that it was wrong for any President to force workers back to work when they aren’t even getting paid and that the situation has been on for three weeks.

Anticipating an obvious rebuttal from Trump activists, she mentioned that although Obama had shut down the government for 17 days, he did so to allow for aged workers to get some medical check-up.

By early Thursday morning, there was a hike in her followership as they approached the 9 million mark. Prominent Trump critics praised the Bronx-born rapper’s thoughts on the situation. They agree it was concise and pretty much straight to the point.

Cardi B had earlier accused the President of being fame and attention hungry. She said he had failed in his promises, case in point – that he was going to build the wall – which he didn’t eventually do.
