Inter Milan Sack Luciano Spalletti With Antonio Conte Possible Replacement

Inter Milan have announced the departure of Luciano Spalletiti from the club on Thursday with Antonio Conte lined up as replacement.

“Luciano Spalletti is no longer head coach of the first team,” the Italian club said in a statement. “The club wishes to thank Spalletti for his work and the results achieved together.”

Spalletti will be leaving the club despite having led the club to a second successive Champions League qualification on the final day of the Serie A season with their qualification going down to the wire.

However, his sack might not be unrelated to his failure to bring in a silverware with the club’s last trophy coming in the Coppa Ittalia as far back as 2011.

Stephen Zhang, Inter Milan Chairman paid a tribute to Spalletti who had qualified them for Champions League after nine years away.

“A coach, a teacher, a friend,” Zhang captioned a photo of himself alongside Spalletti on Instagram.

“You have always given your best, either rain or shine. This 2 years of adventure means so much for Inter and for me personally.

“We will never forget your dedication to this team, and we all thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Once you are the coach of Inter, you would be always my coach. Grazie Mister Spalletti.”

Antonio Conte is the favourite to land the job according to emerging reports. According to a report by Gazzello de sport, Antonio Conte will be announced as the new manager of the Italian club on Friday.

Conte has established himself as one of the best coaches in their prime having led Juventus to th4 first three of their eight consecutive Serie A titles, Premier League and FA Cup with Chelsea.

Spalletti took charge of InterMilan midway of the 2017 season having previously coached at Zenit St. Ptersburg and Roma.
