‘It Will Be An Honor To Surpass Henry’s Goalscoring Record’ – Aguero

Sergio Aguero has set his eyes on the goalscoring record set by former Arsenal player, Thierry Henry, insisting that surpassing that tally would be extraordinary.

Aguero is closing on the goal record set by the Arsenal legend. The Manchester City striker has been prolific in front of goal and looks even more dangerous since Pep Guardiola made way to the Etihad stadium.

Thierry Henry who hails from France remains the all-time leading foreign goalscorer in the Premier league with a total of 175 goals in 258 appearances for North London side, Arsenal.

This goal tally leaves him only behind Alan Shearer, Andy Cole and Frank Lampard in the Premier League’s all-time goalscoring list.

With Aguero on 173 goals in 249 appearances for Manchester City, just two goals shy of Henry’s record, he can soon topple over the French man.

The Argentine has a chance to at least equal this record in a top-of-the-table clash with Liverpool.

The former Atletico Madrid striker hinted on the fact that his time in England’s top-flight was coming to an end and suggested that it would be an honour to surpass a goal record set by a legend in Henry.

“I’m happy to have scored so many goals and to be close to overtaking a great player like Thierry Henry, an incredible player who made history in the league,” the Manchester City striker told France Football.

“To beat it would be something extraordinary, a moment that will remain engraved for all my life. I will continue to work hard to achieve this as soon as possible.

“I especially want to continue to enjoy playing. I came to Europe at 18, and I am 31 today. The years have passed very quickly. I have little time left, so I try to enjoy it.”

The Argentine has found the net nine times in 10 league games this term, and six in other competitions.
