Iwobi Still Reeling In Everton Dramatic Win Over Watford

Alex Iwobi has expressed his excitement at seeing his club, Everton bounce back to winning ways. The Nigeria International has been on the sidelines for a while, missing out on seven games but marked his return with a vital away win.

Iwobi can’t seem to forget the 3-2 thriller win over Watford in such a hurry, having helped his side to an important win on his return to the middle of the park.

The former Arsenal man prior to the game against Watford had never played under Carlo Ancelotti  with his injury having happened against Arsenal since December 21.

Iwobi, 23 was handed his first start under Ancelotti as a three-minute brace from Yerry Mina followed by a goal from Walcott at the death of the game helped the Toffees record a dramatic comeback win at Vicarage road.

Reacting to the result, Iwobi said he didn’t foresee himself getting into the Starting XI but was keen to prove himself under Ancelotti who took over form interim manager, Duncan Ferguson after he sustained an injury.

“There is no better feeling than coming back and winning and it was the perfect day for me,” the Nigerian told Everton TV.

“I did not expect to come straight back in, the manager had us guessing with the set pieces we did on Friday, so we did not know [who was playing].

“But we were all ready to start. Whenever it was my time, I knew I would be ready.

“At times my reactions were a bit slow but that will come the more I am playing.

“I felt okay, not leggy at all. I always pushed on [during his recovery]. Even when I was told to relax – I tried to show I was able to get back fit.

“I was eager to be back, especially with a new manager. I was itching to show him what I could do.”
