Juventus Deny Rumours That They Are Avoiding US Over Ronaldo Arrest Fears

Serie A toppers and Italian giants, Juventus have denied allegations that they are steering clear of the US for a pre-season tour this summer due to fears that their talisman, Cristiano Ronaldo could be detained amidst rape claims and allegations levelled against him.

Emerging reports suggest that the Old Lady were set to appear in the International Champions Cup in Asia rather than the United States because the organizers were looking to avoid any legal clashes and potential issues with the Portuguese playing Stateside.

Ronaldo is faced with rape allegations in the US over claims that he assaulted Kathryn Mayorga in a Las Vegas room in as far back as 2009 and later paid her a sum of $375,000 in hush money over the incident.

The 34-yr-old has emphatically stressed in clear terms that he isn’t guilty of the allegations or crime. Juventus have also thrown their weight around the Portuguese star and rejected claims that they will not be playing in the US this summer because of Ronaldo’s rape probe.

Important to realize is that before now Juventus have played several tours in the US in recent years.

The Old Ladies have stated that the decision to go east rather than west was taken several months ago and that the change from going to the US this time was a rather ‘normal change’.

Cristiano Ronaldo himself commands huge followership in Asia having embarked on a tour to China after the World Cup last summer.

He is in great form for Juventus at the moment having recently scored a hattrick against Atletico Madrid and singlehandedly lifting Juve to the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League competition.

Recall that after the rape allegations against the superstar broke out last year, the Old Lady offered a message of support where they said:

“Ronaldo has shown in recent months his great professionalism and dedication, which is appreciated by everyone at Juventus.

“The events allegedly dating back to almost 10 years ago do not change this opinion, which is shared by anyone who has come into contact with this great champion.”
