Karius Terminates Contract With Turkish Side, Besiktas

Former Liverpool goalkeeper, Loris Karius is reportedly suing the Turkish Super Lig for failing on multiple occasions to pay his wages.

The German goalkeeper says he’s now ended his contract with Turkish giants, Besiktas following the pay dispute.

The goalie is suing Besiktas for failing to pay his wages while he was on loan at Vodafone. According to his agent the Turkish giants failed to pay him between October 2019 and March this year.

Amid a legal case, the former Liverpool No.1 said he had been in talks with Besiktas for months, trying to solve the issue. He also said he was sorry for leaving his fans and teammates behind.

He made this known via an Instagram post. His statement on the social media app read:

“Hi everyone, today I terminated my contract with Besiktas.

“It’s a shame it comes to an end like this but you should know that I have tried everything to solve this situation without any problems. I was very patient for months telling the board over and over again. The same things happened already last year. Unfortunately they haven’t tried to solve this situational problem and even refused my suggestion to help by taking a pay cut.

“It’s important to me that you know I really enjoyed playing for this club a lot. Besiktas can be proud of having such passionate fans behind them always giving amazing support. You always supported me in good and bad times and I will always remember you in the best way!

“Also I want to say thank you to all my team-mates, coaching staff including all people working for the club. You welcomed me with arms wide open from day one.”

This post was caption to a video he shared via his handle. The video shows his arrival in Turkey and various highlights of games he played for the Turkish side.
