Kate Henshaw Says Press Statement By Customs Office On Man Who Was Allegedly Shot Because of 5k Bribe Feels Suspicious

Following a viral video of a customs officer who allegedly shot a man dead over 5,000 naira, Nollywood actress, Kate Henshaw has shown her displeasure at the incident.

The actress also seemed disgruntled at a press release statement by the Public Relations Officer of Nigeria Customes, DC Joseph Attah on behalf of the Comptroller-General of Customs.

Social media users had alleged that the man was shot on his head during the cause of an argument over 5,000 naira bribe and that the victim was just returning into the country from overseas.

In the press statement, the Nigerian Customs Service admitted that they had been drawn to the video being circulated on social media.

They however stated that the young man who was shot wasn’t intentionally fired but that the incident was a case of accidental discharge from a firearm in an attempt by smugglers of what was suspected to be bales of used clothing to obstruct lawful performance of paramilitary officers of the Customs finally leading to the death of the young man and serious injury of a Customs Officer, ASCI, Destiny Onebambo.

The statement rubbished speculations that the man was a part of the bus which tried smuggling the bales of clothings and pointed out that the young man was a good citizen who always came to fetch water for Customs Patrol men all the time.

It laid emphasis on the fact that the video was filmed by some passengers of a bus that had only passed by and not witnessed the full incidence leaving an impression on the public that it was a member of their bus who was shot.

Kate Henshaw who retweeted the video and the press statement expressed her displeasure at the contents of the statement suggesting that the press statement seemed very much like a cover-up.

She wrote: “This statement suggests a cover up”
