Konduga: Boko Haram Set Ablaze 73 Households, 28 Shops – SEMA Tells Gov Zulum

A total of 73 households and ‎28 shops were set ablaze by Boko Haram insurgents in three villages of Konduga local government area following an attack on Thursday night.

This was revealed by the Borno state emergency management agency during a briefing to Governor Babagana Umara-Zulum who undertook an impact assessment visit to the affected villages in Konduga.

Recall that the governor returned to Maiduguri on Friday night, after a one-on-one security meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the presidential villa.

According to Chairman, Yabawa Kolo, in Borri, one of the three villages torched by the insurgents. Around 8pm of August 22, the insurgents attacked and set ablaze 17 households and 4 shops and in Wanori village, 34 households and 18 shops were also set ablaze while 22 households and 6 shops were torched in Kaleri-Abdule village.

The figures added up to 73 households and 28 shops, the agency’s boss said.

As he went round to see things before meeting residents and community leaders affected ‎by the attack, Zulum who promised immediate reconstruction of homes added that modern houses will replace those destroyed.

Discussions were also held with youth volunteers under the Civilian JTF who help with community policing, and the governor pledged to provide two patrol vehicles.

iDONSABI reported that the terrorist group recaptured two Local Government Areas of Gubio and Magumeri in Northern Borno Senatorial District after launched a coordinated attack on the communities beginning from Wednesday evening through Thursday morning without confrontation as both have no military presence.

Recall that immediately after meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari in the State House on Friday, Zulum held a stakeholder meeting with people from Gubio and Magumeri where he related President Buhari’s assurance of continued strengthening of ongoing efforts towards enduring peace and stability in Borno State and rest of the northeast.

During a meeting he also held with Borno State Elders Forum, Zukum promised to continue doing his best in protecting the lives and properties of the people.
