Lagos State Election: PDP congratulates Babajide Sanwo-Olu

– The PDP Lagos Chapter has congratulated Babajide Sanwo-Olu for his victory in the Governorship election

– The PDP disclosed it did this as an act of sportsmanship and respect for the rule of law

Following the declaration of Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the candidate of the All Progressive Congress APC, by the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC as the winner of the Governorship election in Lagos State, the opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party PDP Lagos State chapter has congratulated him.

The PDP, which sent it congratulatory message via it Lagos State publicity secretary, Taofik Gani, disclosed that it did so as a show of sportsmanship and respect to the rule of law.

Mr. Taofik Gani in his statement, however, disclosed that the PDP shall not hesitate to challenge the results if it had any reason to do so.

The PDP spokesperson also sent some advice to the governor-elect as he urged him to accommodate everyone in victory and shun politics of seclusion and retaliation.

In addition Gani advised Babajide Sanwo-Olu not to go against anyone because of political or ideological differences.

Below is an extract from the statement released by the PDP, it reads

Lagosians will not accept any excuse for any failure in governance for any reason.

“We advise Mr Sanwo-Olu to hit the ground running, get competent hands, irrespective of party affiliation.

“This is necesssary so that all hands can be on deck to move Lagos State forward as it should be.”

Babajide Sanwo-Olu won the Lagos State Governorship election with 739,445 votes ahead of the candidate of the PDP, Jimi Agbaje, who polled 206,141 votes.

The Governor-Elect will be sworn in on 29th of May as he would takeover from Gov. Akinwunmi Ambode, who is also a member of the APC.
