Lagos State Governorship election: Babajide Sanwo-Olu vs Jimi Agbaje

– Lagos State Governorship Election: who gets the mandate between Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Jimi Agbaje?

With the 2019 Presidential election now in the past, the next election in line is the Governorship and State Assembly election which will also be handled by the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC at the state level.

Going by the General Election scheduled, the 2019 Governorship election will take place on the 9th of March.

Taking a look at the Lagos State Political scene, the All Progressive Congress APC and the Peoples Democratic Party PDP are once again the major and dominant parties.

Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the candidate of the APC will contest against Jimi Agbaje of the PDP.

Going by record from the past three administrations, Lagos State happens to be a stronghold of the APC, having seen the likes of Bola Ahmed Tinubu (APC national leader), Babatunde Raji Fashola (Current Min. for Power, works and housing) and Akinwunmi Ambode (Current Gov. of Lagos State) rule the state at some point.

One can as well say, the election could turn out to be a victory for the APC once again.

However, taking a look at the candidate of the PDP, Jimi Agbaje, he happens to have contested against the APC at the state level for some years.

Agbaje competed with Babatunde Fashola and Akinwunmi Ambode, however, he was unable to get the mandate.

But despite the defeats, he has so far remained resilient in his course to become the next Gov. of Lagos State.

While Babajide Sanwo-Olu seek to continue with the works of the APC if elected, Jimi Agbaje, on the other hand, seek to end godfatherism in the state if voted for.

The final decision of who would become the next governor of the state, however, lies with Lagosians.
