Lagos State Police Apprehends 6 Suspects Who Allegedly Vandalized NNPC Pipelines At Abule Egba

The Lagos State police command have apprehended six persons who allegedly vandalised the NNPC pipelines at Abule Egba, Lagos State, which further went on to destroy 100 houses and 77 vehicles worth millions of naira.

The suspects who vandalized the NNPC pipelines at Abule Egba that destroyed 100 houses and 77 vehicles are known to be the PDP House of Assembly aspirant Hon.(Amb) Adedipe Dauda Ewenla who is 40 years old, Rasak Oyakunle popularly known as Akeregun; Abdulazeez Agboola famously known as Boggy, 29; Akin Ayansola alias Babalati, 44; Kazeem also known as Aladija, 50 and Saheed Isiola alias Obama, 36.

Parading the suspects yesterday was the Police Commissioner identified as Imohimi Edgal, stated that:

 “On December 18, 2018, at about 2am, there was a fire outbreak at Isopako Awori in Abule Egba area of Lagos State”.

The fire started from the NNPC pipeline that was deliberately vandalized by the arrested suspects in their bid to steal premium motor spirit (PMS) from the pipe. The fire went on to destroy 100 houses and 77 vehicles worth millions of naira around Abule Egba.

The operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) around Ikeja, were informed to investigate the incident and ensure that the suspects are arrested.

He further stated that the operatives were mobilised to the scene and they collected some pieces of evidence for more investigation, which led to the arrest of the suspects.

The police commissioner said during interrogation that Oyakunle confessed to committing the crime and revealed that he owned the generator repair workshop on the spot where the ruptured pipeline was laid.

Edgal said in a statement that:

“Oyakunle confessed that the workshop was located on the spot to enable them siphon fuel undetected,” he said. The gang had been in the illicit business for years”.
