Lagos State Police Arraigns Man Who Beat His Wife To Death For Refusing To Sleep With Him

The police in Lagos state on Friday, May 10th, 2019, arraigned a 31-year-old man identified as Godspower Johnson, before the Ebute Metta Chief Magistrate Court for allegedly beating his wife to death during a fight to sleep with her.

According to operatives of the police command, Godspower Johnson committed the offence on March 21st at 5.30 p.m. at their home in No. 28, Adekoye St., Igbo-Elerin, Ishashi.

The police prosecutor identified as Insp. Oladele Adebayo, informed the court that on the day of the incident, Johnson had tried to sleep with his wife who is now dead.

The Police prosecutor stated that he inserted his two fingers into her private part which the deceased was not happy about and resisted and stopped him.

This movement by the deceased got Godspower Johnson angry and he started beating her.

Unfortunately, she passed away from the injuries she sustained during the fight.

After hearing the police prosecutor’s testimony, the Chief Magistrate identified as O.O. Olatunji, ordered that Godspower Johnson be kept at the Ikoyi Prison, Lagos, for the next 30 days pending advice from the state Director of Public Prosecutions on the case.

Meanwhile, the case was adjourned till June 7th for mention.
